Van de onvolprezen electronica pracht van FOURTET over de springerige afro-indierock van het veerlgeroemde VAMPIRE WEEKEND tot de in pareltjes gegoten ‘therapeutische en soms gitzwarte overpeinzingen’ van EELS die met ‘End times’ amper een half jaar na ‘Hombre Lobo’ alweer toeslaat. Los van die blikvangers ook heel wat fijne –ietwat meer verborgen – ruwe diamanten die met nieuw werk komen aanzetten, zoals het fantastische SPOON (‘transference’), Final Fantasy opperhoofd OWEN PALLETT (‘heartland’) en de Ijslandse ‘grootheid in wording’ OLAFUR ARNALDS (‘dyad 1909’). Wie na de stevige winterprik nog steeds niet genoeg heeft van dat ‘donkere haardvuur’ gevoel, is nog even zoet met de nieuwe TINDERSTICKS of de heerlijke melancholie die je aantreft of ‘july flame’ van mevrouw LAURA VEIRS.
